WHAT IS SMART AGRICULTURE TECHNOLOGIES?
Smart Agriculture is a farm management concept that uses modern digital technologies aimed at increasing the yield and quality of agricultural products; optimizing agricultural production processes; and enabling more efficient, economical, and environmentally friendly use and management of existing resources.
Examples of Smart Agriculture Technologies:
GPS-based positioning systems, soil and plant sensors, UAVs, satellite imaging systems, automated irrigation systems, autonomous devices, etc., designed using big data analysis, the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence, and digital application technologies.

GLOBAL INTEGRATION OF TURKISH AGRICULTURE AND SMART AGRICULTURE PROJECT
The rapid growth of the world population is increasing global food demand. According to FAO forecasts, to meet the food needs arising from this population growth, agricultural production must increase by 70% by 2050. However, the agriculture sector faces serious challenges such as climate change, water and energy constraints, and labor shortages. In this context, Agriculture 4.0, which emerges from integrating agriculture into the Industry 4.0 process, involves incorporating smart systems such as sensor technologies, artificial intelligence, unmanned aerial vehicles, and digital farm management systems into agriculture.
With Agriculture 4.0, productivity increases, resources are used more efficiently, costs decrease, and sustainable production is targeted. This transformation requires an environmentally friendly, technological, and competitive agricultural ecosystem.
Within this framework, the “Global Integration of Turkish Agriculture and Agriculture 4.0 Project,” prepared in collaboration with the İzmir Commodity Exchange and Ege University, aims to integrate Turkey into this process. Through workshops and surveys, the current state of the sector was analyzed, problems were identified, and solutions were developed. The resulting project report aims to contribute to the policy development process for the widespread implementation of Agriculture 4.0 practices in Turkey.
