ABOUT US

The İzmir Agricultural Technology Center (İTTM), established under the leadership of the Izmir Commodity Exchange in Menemen, operates within the campus of the International Agricultural Research and Training Center Directorate (UTAEM), which is affiliated with the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM) of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. It was founded as a Technology Development Center aiming to integrate agriculture with technology within the framework of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and KOSGEB TEKMER Support Program.

Entrepreneurial companies located in TEKMER develop R&D projects in the vertical of “Smart Agricultural Technologies,” which is the main theme of İTTM, and can also benefit from tax advantages within the scope of Law No. 5746 on the Support of R&D and Design Activities. At the same time, serving as a living laboratory, İTTM has signed a protocol with TAGEM to allow startups to use the application areas within the UTAEM campus as testing and experimentation fields.

İTTM is an open innovation environment and technology development center where products and services (smart agriculture applications) developed or to be developed using information technologies in agriculture can be tested and improved in real-life settings, with real users and products.

The purpose of İTTM is to implement an agricultural technologies entrepreneurship ecosystem that supports the stronger participation and integration of the information and communication sector into agriculture, and the digital transformation of agriculture, with the aim of making agriculture sustainable, competitive, and efficient.

SUSTAINABILITY AND İTTM

The İzmir Agricultural Technology Center contributes to the protection of natural resources in agriculture and the sustainability of production by supporting the development of environmentally friendly, climate-smart technologies and conducting activities aimed at resource efficiency.

In this context, many initiatives are carried out in close relation to several of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which United Nations member states aim to achieve by the end of 2030.

TEKMER STATUS

The İzmir Agricultural Technology Center, within the scope of the KOSGEB TEKMER Support Program, has acquired the right to use the name TEKMER, becoming Turkey’s first technology development center focused on agricultural technologies.

İTTM will support the development and commercialization of domestic agricultural technologies by providing entrepreneurs with the necessary physical environment, infrastructure, and business connections for IT-based R&D activities in the agricultural sector.

Thanks to the laboratories and equipment within İTTM, entrepreneurs will be able to focus their financial resources on developing solutions instead of infrastructure investment, while also benefiting from various tax deductions and incentives provided under Law No. 5746 on the Support of Research, Development, and Design Activities.
